Looking at today’s story headline, you will understand that it is never easy to keep trusting God with an unfulfilled longing despite being a true child of God and keeping God’s commandments. But one good fact I was able to extract from the bible stories of people who trusted in God during their difficulties was the outcome of their challenges.
God surely intervened and granted all of their longings but in his own time, the need to be patient remains crucial in the moments of difficulties and trials as a believer.
Many biblical quotations narrated different stories about people who trusted God in difficult times and how God answered their prayers.
Some of the biblical verses can be seen in;
- Luke 1:5-25 which narrated about Zacharia and Elizabeth.
- Which narrated about Abraham and Sarah.
- Job chapters 1 and 2 talk about the sufferings of Job and how he trusted God.
- Daniel chapter 3 talks about the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
But for the sake of today’s blog post story, we will be narrating the Bible stories about trusting God in difficult times using the Zechariah and Elizabeth story according to Luke chapter 1, from verses 5 to 25.

Bible Stories About Trusting God In Difficult Times.
The Story
There was a man named Zacharia, who was a priest during the kingship of Herod in Judea. He married a woman from the descendant of Aaron and the woman’s name is Elizabeth.
Both husband and wife worship God with sincerity by keeping God’s commandments.
It happened that the husband and wife are childless and keep praying for God to give them their child. They prayed for many years and nearly lost hope in their longing for a child because of their age when an angel of the Lord appeared to Zacharia during one of his active services as a priest of God. Zacharia was inside the temple burning incense when the angel of the Lord appeared and stood at the right hand of the altar.
Zachariah was filled with fear when he saw the angel of the Lord.
And the angel said to him.
Do not be afraid Zecharia for God has answered your prayer.
Your wife Elizabeth will conceive and bear you a son, and you shall name him John and he shall be great in the sight of God and filled with the holy spirit, even from his mother’s womb.
Zachariah replied to the angel.
How could this happen? I am an old man, my wife is also old.
The angel said to Zacharia.
I am Angel Gabriel who stands in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you about the birth of your son.
For not believing in my word, you shall become dumb and not able to speak until the day my message will be fulfilled.
The worshippers outside waited for Zachariah to come out and were shocked when he came and was unable to speak a word to them.
They believed he had seen a vision in the temple.
Zachariah’s wife Elizabeth later conceived and bore him a son called John according to the message given by the angel Gabriel to fulfill the word of God according to Luke chapter 1, from verses 5 to 25.
